Kris went to Hell and Back, but lives to tell the tale!
HCIL Office Manager Kris McCall embarked on the Hell and Back challenge in June 2017 to fundraise for our very own iCare Wishes
The iCare Wishes initiative formed in June 2013 allows members of the public, through a Homecare employee to nominate someone in the community to be granted a wish.
Nevertheless, the event lived up to its name. The torturous event, self proclaimed as Ireland’s toughest mental and physical endurance challenge sets out an obstacle course run for its participants. A 12k run through unpredictable trails, paintball sniper, further enhanced with man made obstacles for good measure are some of the challenges our Homecare hero tasked himself with. Kris challenged himself to crawl through ice baths, climb mountains and conquer everything thrown against him… including the president Irish weather to overcome this mammoth challenge.
Admits the training for torture, Kris was able to set his sites on fundraising and has managed to raise an astounding £354 for iCare Wishes. On September 5th, Kris was able to visit the home of Orla Denning in Cavan to present her with a Samsung Tablet with a protective cover that will aid her in her learning. The fundraising efforts saw friends, family and local sports clubs join together to support Kris on making this wish come true.
Homecare Independent Living and iCare would like to again thank Kris for his efforts and commend him on his fundraising journey. We would like to wish Orla the best with her new tablet and intend to add another iCare wish to an ever-growing list of smiling faces brought to our community.
